Chairman of PhucGroup Tourism Investment Company: 'If you want to be famous, burn yourself out with passion'

(Baonghean) - With great ambitions, experience and love for the profession with all his heart, young businessman Nguyen Huu Bac from scratch successfully built the PhucGroup Tourism brand - a top prestigious travel agency in building destinations for tours across Indochina connecting his homeland Nghe An.

Born and raised in the poor countryside of Lang Son commune, on the left bank of Lam river in Anh Son district, Nguyen Huu Bac (born in 1984) is known by many as a gentle and intelligent boy. Since his days as a student at Anh Son II High School, Bac was loved by teachers and friends because he was good at English and always excelled in Youth Union activities and social work.

After graduating from high school, Bac's family wanted him to follow the family's career. But it seemed that Bac's personality, understanding, quick integration and efforts changed the family's thoughts and plans. One time, when his father took him to take the university entrance exam in Hanoi, Bac visited the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam. As surprised and excited as he was, Bac was even more attracted and convinced by the tour guide's deeply emotional voice when introducing tourists to the history of Vietnam's first university.

Bac once shared: “I like tourism the most, I feel suitable and confident that I can do it”. The opportunity to come to the tourism profession and then become a typical startup symbol of Vietnamese tourism started from things like that.

With a gentle, independent, and intelligent nature since childhood, his parents had great faith in Bac. After learning that their son liked the tourism profession, Bac's parents and sister were very supportive - this was a great source of spiritual encouragement. Bac was determined to join and was at the top of the admissions scoreboard at Nghe An College of Culture and Arts.

At the age of a freshman, from a poor mountainous area to the city to study, not many people can make a living independently and firmly set out a future plan for themselves. However, through learning, research, and intuition, Bac soon realized the potential of Vietnam tourism, in which Nghe An is truly a good investment environment. And then, behind the hasty meetings, we know that for Bac there are also part-time jobs at restaurants and hotels, self-study, reading documents to supplement knowledge, field trips to tourist attractions, fulfilling the role of a tour guide during internships...

Bac’s path to success today has gone through many thorny challenges, including giving up opportunities that many people dream of, to multiply the pride of starting his own business. Bac refused the opportunity to stay and teach at Nghe An College of Culture and Arts; gave up management positions at tourism companies such as Phuong Dong Petroleum, Truong Son Military Zone 4, Thai Son International Travel Company.

The days of starting PhucGroup Tourism in Vinh city were memorable for Bac. The establishment of the business had no partners, no brand and very limited capital. However, with his fluent foreign language skills, extensive relationships and reputation, Bac was also highly appreciated by the travel business community nationwide. This was the "glue" to bring the enthusiastic footsteps of the studious student to the finish line and ignite the leading travel brand in the Central region with a system of overland tours across Indochina connecting Vietnam with neighboring countries.

The journey was full of hardships but with a lot of passion and confidence, Bac won the sympathy and trust of many prestigious partners. Since then, the extensive network of travel agencies and passenger transport by road in Hanoi, Vientiane, Luangphabang (Laos), Udonthani (Thailand) has been connected on the tourism map of Vietnam.

Bac's path to success today is the result of his determination to rise up and his burning love for the profession. Although he has over 12 years of experience as a tour guide and won second prize in the National Excellent Tour Guide Competition, Bac is still not satisfied with himself. After getting married, his partner, his wife, who has always accompanied him and given him admiration and love, has given him the strength to continue on the path he has chosen. Up to now, he has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration - Danang University and a Bachelor's degree in Law, a Master's degree and is currently a PhD student in tourism economics.

As a guest lecturer at many major tourism training units across the country, Bac has devoted all his heart to sharing his experience as a tour guide, training many excellent tour guides, including Bui The Vu - the first person from Nghe An and the Central region to win First Prize in the "National Excellent Tour Guide 2013" Contest.

The success of a young man with great ambition coming from a poor rural family in Anh Son district is a lesson for the will and determination to constantly strive forward, the result of experience and passion, loving the profession with all his heart and keeping the reputation of the profession he has chosen. Although he has received many Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee, the General Department of Tourism, and the Vietnam Tourism Association, and is very busy with work, Bac still spends a lot of time on social activities for the community.
