Google's chairman receives a bonus of over 2 trillion VND.
This information was announced by Google, the search giant, on April 20th. According to the announcement, Chairman Eric Schmidt received stock bonuses equivalent to $55.6 million, along with $38.1 million in stock options and $7.2 million in other compensation. In total, Schmidt earned $101 million, equivalent to over 2.1 trillion VND. Compared to 2010, this year's compensation for the chairman has increased dramatically, as last year he only received $313,219 (approximately 6 billion VND).
Schmidt, 56, was Google's CEO from 2001. However, last year he decided to step down to hand over the day-to-day operations to the company's co-founder, Larry Page.
Also yesterday, another American tech giant, Motorola Mobility Holdings Ltd., announced a bonus of $47.2 million for CEO Sanjay Jha, equivalent to nearly 1 trillion VND, more than three times his 2010 compensation.
However, these compensation figures are still far less than the $378 million Apple previously paid CEO Tim Cook. To this day, that remains a record figure that no competitor has been able to surpass.
