Issued a document requesting responsible units to eliminate illegal buses and bus stations, but in reality, the Chairman of Da Nang saw no change in the situation.

At the program "The People's Council with voters for the 4th time" on the morning of November 6, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Huynh Duc Tho said that there was a document assigning responsibility to traffic inspectors and police to thoroughly handle illegal vehicles and bus stations in front of the Central Bus Station (Lien Chieu District), but after 3 months the situation has not improved.

"I just passed by there and took out my camera to film when a group of brokers introduced customers to the cars, even though they knew me, shouted to each other that the City Chairman was coming to film, then ran away," Mr. Tho recounted.

Immediately after that, Mr. Tho called the Director of the Department of Transport and the Secretary of Lien Chieu District, requesting the arrangement of two traffic inspectors and regular forces to be on duty at the bus station. "I just went to check again, there are inspectors standing there, but there is still a situation of pimping, cars running slowly, not allowing other vehicles to pass. That is enough to show that the relevant sectors and local authorities have not dealt with it resolutely," said Mr. Tho.

City leaders said that the Hoa My gas station, located near the bus station, is becoming a stop for illegal buses to pick up passengers. Passenger buses pretend to fill up with gas to turn this place into a illegal station, but the police and traffic police do not handle it. Regarding the government's responsibility, Mr. Tho said that it will be assigned to the ward and district secretaries and chairmen.

The Chairman of Da Nang said that the city's development, the increase in tourists and population have led to many phenomena affecting urban order and encroachment on roadsides. "All of these issues are within the authority of the People's Councils at the commune and ward levels, but the local authorities have not acted vigorously," he emphasized.

Recently, the situation of buses running on the Da Nang - Hue, Da Nang - Dong Ha, Da Nang - Dong Hoi routes deliberately slowing down about 5 km/h on Ton Duc Thang Street (in front of the bus station) and Nguyen Luong Bang Street (Lien Chieu District) to wait for more passengers has been common.

On May 28, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Huynh Duc Tho signed a document requesting the City Police to coordinate with the Department of Transport and the People's Committee of Lien Chieu District to take measures to thoroughly handle the situation of illegal vehicles and slow-moving vehicles picking up and dropping off passengers in front of the Central Bus Station.

The Chairman of Da Nang affirmed that after 3 months, if the illegal vehicle situation is not completely resolved, the Director of the City Police and the Director of the Department of Transport must strictly handle the leaders and commanders of the subordinate units; if there are negative signs or lack of capacity, consider transferring them to other jobs.
