Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Hero of Russian Labor Gennady Zyuganov expressed his condolences, because for Mr. Zyuganov, the relationship with the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was not just an acquaintance, but they were also friends.

Responding to a question from political observer Alexander Gamov of Komsomolskaya Pravda – Communist Youth Truth Newspaper (Russia) (the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation) about the passing of the “outstanding man” Nguyen Phu Trong, Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Hero of Russian Labor Gennady Zyuganov expressed his condolences, because for Mr. Zyuganov, the relationship with the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong did not stop at acquaintance, but they were also friends. What is special is that they studied together at the Academy of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, walked in the same hallway, and studied the same curriculum.
September 1981 - July 1983: Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong was an intern and defended his thesis for Associate Professor (now Doctor) in Historical Sciences (majoring in Party Building) at the Academy of Social Sciences of the Soviet Union, under the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
Chairman of the Russian Communist Party Zyuganov expressed that he always remembers the memoirs of the leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam - a person who left his mark in thoughts and actions not only on the Vietnamese people, but also on true communists around the world.
Chairman of the Communist Party of Russia Zyuganov affirmed that Nguyen Phu Trong is a talented leader who has persistently pursued policies to strengthen Vietnam’s sovereignty and create opportunities for people to develop their potential, contribute their intelligence, initiative and creativity. Thanks to that, Vietnam has achieved outstanding results.
Chairman of the Russian Communist Party Zyuganov not only expressed his deep condolences, but also firmly believed that the brave, hardworking and intelligent leaders and people of Vietnam will continue the glorious path that the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had pursued - the path of building socialism. Because these policies have brought brilliant results, first of all in the fields of economy and social policy.
According to the Chairman of the Communist Party of Russia, the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was awarded the "Lenin Prize" by the Russian State - the highest award of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. This is a completely worthy award for a man who devoted himself to the socialist ideal. And the late General Secretary of Vietnam did everything to ensure that the Vietnamese working people lived happily, and the country achieved in-depth development results.

Previously, on July 19, during a live broadcast on Channel 1 - Russia's state television channel, political scientist, former Deputy of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Nikonov expressed condolences on the passing of General Secretary of the Party Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong. Mr. Nikonov affirmed that the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was "a great friend of Russia".
“Today, sad news comes from Vietnam... Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, has passed away. He was President of Vietnam for many years. Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin met him during his official visit to Vietnam. We would like to send our most sincere condolences to our Vietnamese friends,” he said on Channel 1.
“He was truly a great friend of our country and a person who had a great influence on the successful development of relations between the two countries. We deeply remember comrade Nguyen Phu Trong,” political scientist and former Deputy of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Nikonov expressed his condolences.
