Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation compares 'Nord Stream-2' with the construction of the Crimean bridge
Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Viacheslav Volodin said that the Nord Stream 2 project is of equal importance to the construction of the BAM bridge and the Crimean bridge, and consumers in European countries will benefit the most from its implementation.
“For Russia, Nord Stream 2 is as important as the construction of the BAM Bridge and the Crimean Bridge. This is a large-scale project, within the framework of which we will expand the market for our products, and consumers will receive high-quality and cheap gas. In a word, the project is economic and everyone benefits from it,” Volodin wrote on Telegram.

He noted that the project is being implemented in difficult political conditions: "Sanctions, lobbying from the United States, which wants to supply its shale gas more expensive." Mr. Volodin stressed that it is necessary to pay tribute to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, because she defended the interests of her citizens and citizens of European countries.
Who initiated the construction of “Nord Stream-2”?
“It is necessary to clarify how this project was born. We know from the media that Nord Stream 2 is being implemented by Gazprom together with other countries. No one talks about the author of the project. And he certainly will not talk about himself. The author of the project, from the idea to the route of the pipeline, is our president,” Volodin added.

He stressed that the telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Gazprom head Alexei Miller on the implementation of the project took place on the way to the airport, when the proposal for Nord Stream 2 was put forward. The proposal not only provided for a shorter length of the pipeline, but also for compliance with all environmental safety requirements. Mr. Volodin said that this is a cleaner project: the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is 5.6 times less than that of the gas pipeline through Ukraine.
