President begins state visit to Singapore
During his visit to Singapore, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will meet with President Halimah Yacob, hold talks with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and meet with Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin.
At about 6:45 p.m. on February 24, local time, the plane carryingPresident Nguyen Xuan PhucThe Prime Minister, his wife and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation arrived at Changi International Airport, starting the state visit to Singapore.
Welcoming the President, his wife and the delegation at the airport, on the Singapore side were Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam.
On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung, officers and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore.
According to the program, it is expected that within the framework of the visit, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will meet with President Halimah Yacob, hold talks with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and meet with Speaker of the National Assembly Tan Chuan-Jin.
These high-level meetings aim to promote the signed cooperation agreements between the two countries, discuss new cooperation programs, and deepen the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership.
Ministries, sectors and businesses of the two countries will also exchange cooperation documents in the fields of economics, trade, defense, information and communications, science and technology, etc.
During the visit, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will also attend and speak at the Vietnam-Singapore Business Dialogue and receive many leading Singaporean businesses.
After 49 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Singapore, and 9 years of upgrading bilateral relations to Strategic Partnership, Singapore is now one of the three largest investors in Vietnam, with a cumulative investment of 66 billion USD and nearly 2,900 projects.
The Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park is a symbol of cooperation between the two countries and to date, Singapore's investment capital in industrial parks in Vietnam has reached 14 billion USD.
