On February 16th (the 7th day of the Lunar New Year, Year of the Snake 2013), President Truong Tan Sang visited and extended New Year greetings to the Saigon Newport Corporation and the 4th Army Corps.

At Tan Cang Cat Lai Port (Ho Chi Minh City) - the largest, most modern, and professional container port in Vietnam, Rear Admiral Nguyen Dang Nghiem, General Director of Saigon Newport Corporation, and representatives of the corporation's officers, workers, and soldiers expressed their great honor at being visited by the President and receiving New Year greetings on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year; they were pleased to report to the President on the corporation's activities during its construction and development.

President Truong Tan Sang welcomed the great achievements of Saigon Newport Corporation in recent years. The corporation has made remarkable progress with rapid development, modern equipment, updating technology from the region and the world, constantly improving its capacity and quality of cargo handling, becoming one of the largest port operators and logistics service providers in Vietnam.

In 2012, Saigon Newport Corporation received 4,350 vessels for operation with a throughput of 3.49 million TEUs (46.4 million tons), achieving revenue of over 6,300 billion VND and a profit of 969 billion VND...

The President instructed that in order for the country to develop faster and stronger, port service businesses need to focus on implementing solutions to reduce transportation costs per unit of goods, creating favorable conditions for businesses to expand globally in the process of integrating with the global economy.

Specifically, the Saigon Newport Corporation needs to focus on investing in advanced technology, improving service quality, expanding production and business, contributing to the construction of ports in other regions of the country, especially developing ports in Nha Trang and Hai Phong, and actively contributing to the successful implementation of the Party's Resolution on the maritime strategy...

At the 4th Army Corps Headquarters (Binh Duong), Major General Nguyen Hoang - Commander of the Army Corps, along with members of the Command, and leaders from Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Binh Phuoc, were delighted to welcome President Truong Tan Sang on his visit and New Year greetings.

Major General Nguyen Hoang reported to the President on the glorious traditions of the 4th Army Corps: loyalty, unity, bravery, creativity, self-reliance, and determination to win. These glorious traditions are cherished, upheld, and highly developed by the officers and soldiers of the Corps today.

President Truong Tan Sang commended the great achievements and contributions that the 4th Army Corps has made over the past 38 years, with its rich and glorious tradition, and its positive contributions to the cause of national construction and defense.

The President reminded that as the main mobile corps of the Ministry of National Defense, stationed and operating in the strategic southern region of the country, the officers and soldiers of the Corps need to better organize their studies and training; regularly coordinate and maintain close relations with local Party committees and authorities in the areas where they are stationed in protecting political security and building safe areas; do a good job of mass mobilization; strengthen situational forecasting, and always be proactive and ready to fight in all situations.

The President wished the 4th Army Corps to always uphold its heroic traditions in combat, maintain unity and solidarity, overcome difficulties, and strive to build an increasingly strong Corps, worthy of the title "Heroic Soldiers of Uncle Ho," and worthy of the trust of the Party, the State, the army, and the people.
