The President expressed his hope that there would be even more outstanding young entrepreneurs making positive contributions to the country's development.

On the morning of August 31st, at the Presidential Palace, President Truong Tan Sang held a cordial meeting with 40 delegates representing outstanding young entrepreneurs nationwide to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Vietnamese Young Entrepreneurs Movement and the 10th anniversary of the Golden Star Award of Vietnam.

Speaking on behalf of the delegates, Chairman of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association Mai Huu Tin stated that since its establishment in 1993, the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association has been present in all provinces and cities with nearly 10,000 members operating in four economic sectors.

The member businesses have created jobs for over 2.5 million workers with annual revenues exceeding $25 billion. With entrepreneurs and businesses of national scale, the association's members have made positive contributions to the country's reform and development.

In particular, amidst the rise of Vietnamese businesses, the Golden Star Award of Vietnam, established in 2003, marked a new milestone for Vietnamese entrepreneurs. Over the past 10 years, the award has attracted more than 5,214 entries from brands and products, with 1,527 receiving awards. These impressive figures confirm that the Golden Star Award of Vietnam is truly a prestigious award, significantly contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnamese brands and businesses in international economic integration, and serving as a symbol of pride for outstanding Vietnamese brands and products.

At the meeting, delegates raised many difficulties and shortcomings that need to be overcome, while also sharing experiences and making practical recommendations on issues such as: how businesses can compete in the context of integration, especially in the upcoming Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement; inadequate policy mechanisms for various types of businesses; unresolved issues in the relationship between businesses and banks; high interest rates and difficulty in accessing capital...

In addition, businesspeople suggested that the Golden Star of Vietnam award should be made a national award and held annually to encourage and motivate businesses, and also to certify the brand position of businesses.

Speaking at the meeting, the President welcomed the achievements of the Young Entrepreneurs Association and entrepreneurs over the past years, which have contributed to the overall development of the country. The President emphasized that the meeting was not only about reporting results but also about listening to and exchanging the difficulties and experiences of entrepreneurs, in order to find solutions to further promote the development of businesses.

In a market economy, businesses are concerned with comparative benefits, encompassing both immediate and long-term advantages. The President cautioned against engaging in haphazard, trend-driven practices that could easily lead to imbalances in supply and demand. Businesses need to unite, cooperate, and carefully consider how to balance interests, a crucial aspect of which is the role of associations. Regarding long-term advantages, realistic forecasting is essential to maximize future potential.

The President affirmed that the Party and State pay special attention to and have policies and mechanisms to promote the development of businesses and the national economy. However, the association needs to be strengthened, and outstanding entrepreneurs must actively participate in the association's standing committee to proactively report existing problems and obstacles with the business community, proposing solutions so that relevant agencies can promptly adjust policies to create momentum for development.

The President also noted that, in the trend of integration, enhancing competitiveness is especially important. Currently, we have been opening up and participating in many international organizations such as the WTO, APEC..., and signing many trade agreements such as AFTA and FTA with many countries... This is both a challenge and an opportunity for businesses to develop and expand globally.

The President wished the entrepreneurs and businesses even greater progress and more products winning the Golden Star of Vietnam award. Above all, whether the award is held every three years or annually should be based on the realities of development, but the most important thing is that the award should be a measure of product quality, brand, and business reputation, contributing to the development of businesses and the country.
