President Luong Cuong witnessed the ceremony of handing over the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing friendly relations between Nam Dan district and Cerro Navia district, Santiago capital (Chile)
On the morning of November 10 (local time), within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Chile, President Luong Cuong and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited and laid a wreath at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the park named after him in the capital Santiago de Chile.

Here, President Luong Cuong and former President Michelle Bachelet witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing friendly and cooperative relations between the People's Committee of Nam Dan district, Nghe An province (Vietnam) and Cerro Navia district, Santiago capital region (Chile).
Speaking at the ceremony, President Luong Cuong respectfully thanked the Chilean people, especially the people of Cerro Navia district, for always preserving Ho Chi Minh Park as a symbol of solidarity, friendship and special cooperation between the people of the two countries.
The President pointed out that placing the statue of President Ho Chi Minh right in the park named after him has continued to carry out the mission of connecting the two nations, demonstrating the deep affection of the Chilean people for President Ho Chi Minh.

The President shared his feelings and emotions, from the bottom of his heart as well as those of all Vietnamese people, about the affection and support of the Chilean Government, relevant agencies, the Chilean people in general and the Cerro Navia district in particular for President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people; at the same time, he emphasized that the monument and park named after him in the capital Santiago is a clear demonstration of the strong friendship between the people of the two countries.

On behalf of the government and people of Cerro Navia district, District Chief Mauro Tamayo expressed his joy and honor to welcome President Luong Cuong and the Vietnamese delegation to Cerro Navia district; highlighting the shining moral example of President Ho Chi Minh and his great contributions to the struggle for national liberation of Vietnam.
Mr. Tamayo affirmed that the government and people of Cerro Navia district will continue to contribute to caring for and preserving the park as a symbol of solidarity and friendship between the governments and people of the two countries.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - Chairman of Nam Dan District People's Committee, Nghe An Province said that Nam Dan is the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh - Hero of national liberation of Vietnam, outstanding cultural celebrity of humanity. Cerro Navia District is a place where people have special feelings for President Ho Chi Minh.
In 2014, the Ho Chi Minh monument was inaugurated in Cerro Navia district. This is an important event for the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries and the foundation for the development of friendship between Cerro Navia district and Nam Dan district in particular, and Nghe An province in general.
In recent times, the relationship between Nghe An province and Cerro Navia district has developed positively through mutual visits by leaders of the two localities. During the visits, the two sides agreed to cooperate in building the “Ho Chi Minh Space Library” in Cerro Navia district, and Nghe An province sponsored 200,000 USD for the construction of the project. The two sides also discussed the possibility of signing a cooperation document between Cerro Navia district and a locality of Nghe An province.

Therefore, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Nam Dan district and Cerro Navia district by the two sides is an important event for the friendship, solidarity and cooperation not only for the two localities but also for the two countries.
The Chairman of Nam Dan District People's Committee hopes that the Memorandum of Understanding will open up new opportunities for the two sides to actively promote friendship and cooperation activities in the fields of economy, culture - sports, education - training, tourism and people-to-people exchange.
The statue of President Ho Chi Minh is located in the park named after him in the Herminda de la Victoria neighborhood of the Cerro Navia district. This park was built in 1969 by a group of young people from the Communist Party and the Socialist Party of Chile to express the solidarity and support of the Chilean people for the struggle for national liberation of the Vietnamese people.
Later, the park area was renovated, embellished, and a statue of President Ho Chi Minh was added. The “Ho Chi Minh Space” area is in the process of being expanded, which is not only a symbol of the special friendship between the two countries but also helps local people increase their understanding of the history, culture, country and people of Vietnam.
