President Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrives in Havana, beginning official visit to Cuba
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc began his official visit to Cuba from September 18-20, a visit of extremely special significance in terms of "history and sentiment".
At 10:00 a.m. on September 18 (local time), or 9:00 p.m. Vietnam time, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Jose Marti Habana International Airport, beginning an official friendship visit to Cuba.
In the bright sunny weather of the weekend morning, welcomePresidentNguyen Xuan Phucand the delegation at the airport, on the Cuban side were Politburo member, Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa; some leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Thanh Tung; some embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Cuba.
Stepping down the stairs from the cabin, the President waved to the officials and representatives of the Cuban State. A female student representing overseas Vietnamese in Cuba presented the President with a bouquet of fresh flowers.

According to the visit program, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will hold talks with First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez; meet with Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz; and meet with President of the National Assembly Esteban Lazo.
During the visit, the two leaders are expected to witness the signing of a number of cooperation documents between the two countries, including the action plan for the medium-term economic agenda; agreements on judicial, health, fisheries, agricultural, and cyber security cooperation; and a number of business cooperation agreements on clean energy and hotel construction.

The President will also meet with the First Vice President of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), President of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association; Representatives of the leaders of the schools named after Uncle Ho, Nguyen Van Troi and Vo Thi Thang will pay their respects to the President; Visit the Embassy and meet the Vietnamese community in Cuba; Visit the Center for Genetics and Biotechnology Research - CIGB.
