President receives President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin

On the afternoon of June 24, at the Presidential Palace, President Tran Dai Quang received President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

At the reception, President Tran Dai Quang warmly welcomed President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin and the high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia to their official visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2017).

Thereby, it contributes significantly to consolidating and further strengthening the relationship of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability" between the two countries.

The President firmly believes that, under the wise reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of the Senate, National Assembly and Royal Government of Cambodia with the Cambodian People's Party as the core, the brotherly Cambodian people will continue to gain even greater new achievements in the cause of successfully building a peaceful, stable and prosperous Kingdom of Cambodia.

The President was pleased to see that the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries have been constantly consolidated and developed, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries. The President said that economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries has developed strongly, making Vietnam one of Cambodia's leading trade and investment partners.

The President congratulated the Cambodian People's Party on its victory in the recent election of the 4th term Commune/Ward Councils. The President said that in the context of the current complicated developments in the world and the region, the two countries must further strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation, support each other's legitimate interests, and actively contribute to peace and development in the region and the world.

The President suggested that both sides continue to pay attention to encouraging economic, trade and investment cooperation; and further strengthen people-to-people exchanges, especially among the younger generation. The President hoped that the President and the Cambodian National Assembly would continue to pay attention to helping people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia to stabilize and feel secure in doing business and living in Cambodia. Thereby, they would actively contribute to the construction and development of Cambodia as well as to the good neighborly and friendly relations between the people of the two countries.

Cambodian National Assembly President Heng Samrin said the event of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations is an important occasion for both sides to look back at the achievements they have made in recent times.

On this occasion, through the National Assembly Chairman, the President conveyed his regards and best wishes to King Norodom Shihamoni, Queen Mother Monineath Sihanouk, and the leaders of the Senate, National Assembly and Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The President of the Cambodian National Assembly announced the victory of the Cambodian People's Party in the recent commune/ward council elections and affirmed that the Cambodian people will forever remember the contributions of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in carrying out their international duty to liberate the Cambodian people from the Pol Pot genocidal regime. President Heng Samrin wished for the solidarity and friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam to grow further./.
