President Tran Dai Quang meets with Russian Prime Minister Medvedev

On the afternoon of June 29, President Tran Dai Quang met with Russian Prime Minister Medvedev.

President Tran Dai Quang expressed his joy at returning to visit Russia and meeting Russian Prime Minister Medvedev during his first official visit to the Russian Federation as President on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution in Russia; and thanked the Russian leaders and people for their thoughtful, warm and friendly reception for the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

President Tran Dai Quang affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of always attaching importance to and prioritizing the enhancement of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the Russian Federation, developing Vietnam-Russia cooperation in an increasingly sustainable and effective manner, considering Russia as one of Vietnam's most important and trustworthy partners; highly appreciating the political relationship between the two countries, especially the close cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Russia Party, of which Prime Minister Medvedev is the Chairman.

President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Medvedev affirmed their determination to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a new height; exchanged and agreed on measures to promote and deepen bilateral cooperation.

President Tran Dai Quang suggested that the two governments closely cooperate to effectively implement the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement, implement trade promotion measures to facilitate import and export activities between the two countries; support the implementation of investment cooperation projects in each other's territories, especially projects in oil and gas, energy, automobile assembly and production, dairy farming and milk processing, etc.

The two sides also positively assessed the results of cooperation in the fields of defense - security, science - technology, education - training, culture, tourism, etc. in recent times.

The President sincerely thanked Russian authorities for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Russia to live and do business stably, in accordance with Russian law, and expressed his hope that Russia would continue to support the Vietnamese community.

The President affirmed that Vietnam is ready to support the successful organization of the Russian Cultural Days in Vietnam in 2017./.
