As part of his official visit to Russia, on the morning of July 1 (local time), President Tran Dai Quang and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited Saint Petersburg - the "Northern capital" of Russia - a major cultural center of Russia and the world.

Saint Petersburg is the second largest industrial center of Russia after Moscow. Over the years, the city has achieved high economic growth, with strong industrial development, with key sectors being machine building and shipbuilding.

In terms of economic development, Saint Petersburg relies mainly on two sources of investment from the federal state budget and from extra-budgetary sources.

Total investment capital in the city increased by 40% per year, focusing mainly on industry, construction, telecommunications, transportation and trade.

Saint Petersburg is the second largest tourist center of Russia, with a harmonious combination of architecture from different eras and styles.

There are 221 museums, 2,000 libraries, more than 80 theaters, 62 cinemas, 100 concert halls, 45 galleries and exhibitions.

Here, President Tran Dai Quang and his wife laid a wreath at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery. Also attending were members of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and leaders of Saint Petersburg City.

Located in the north of Saint Petersburg, the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery is one of the burial places of victims of the siege of Leningrad and soldiers of the Leningrad front.

The Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery was founded in 1939 in the northern suburbs of Leningrad and named after the nearby village of Piskaryovka.

In 1941-1944 it became a place of mass graves for victims of the siege of Leningrad and soldiers of the Leningrad front. Most of the dead died in the winter of 1941-1942.

Writing in the Golden Book of the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery, President Tran Dai Quang expressed his emotion when visiting the place marking the heroic feats and extraordinary courage of soldiers and people of Leningrad City when they were surrounded during the Great Patriotic War.

The President wrote: “The sons of Russia fought selflessly and died to bring peace to Russia and humanity.”

Next, the President and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the historic "Dawn" warship.

This is a battleship that participated in World War I and World War II. The battleship is a symbol of the Russian October Revolution when it fired the signal shot for the final attack on the Winter Palace in Petrograd on November 7, 1917.

Today, the Battleship is preserved and operates as a museum ship in St. Petersburg.

Here, President Tran Dai Quang expressed his emotion and impression when visiting the legendary warship Rang Dong - Floating Museum, a symbol of the great October Revolution in Russia, the revolution that opened a new era for the struggle for national liberation around the world.

On the same morning, President Tran Dai Quang and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Winter Palace.

The Winter Palace covers an area of ​​90,000 square meters, is a monument of Russian Baroque architecture and one of the famous architectural works of St. Petersburg.

The palace was designed by Italian architect BF Rastrelli at the request of Queen Elizaveta I in the Baroque art style, built in the years 1754 - 1762.

For a long time, the Winter Palace was the residence of the Russian Tsars. After the collapse of the Tsarist regime, from July to November 1917 the Winter Palace was the meeting hall of the Provisional Government.
