In a solemn atmosphere, Comrade Giang Son, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, announced the President's decision to confer the rank of Ambassador upon 38 officials and civil servants of the diplomatic sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang congratulated the 38 comrades who were awarded the title of Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This is a recognition by the Party and the State of the contributions of the Ambassadors to foreign affairs in particular and the cause of national development in general.

The President of Vietnam presented the decision conferring the rank of Ambassador to Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi.

Emphasizing the role of diplomacy, the President stated that while the army was the frontline force during wartime, in times of peace and comprehensive international integration, the diplomatic sector, including the Ambassadors, is the key force on the front line.

Diplomacy has, is, and will continue to directly confront external challenges to national security, such as issues of protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, borders, maritime territories, democracy, human rights, and religion.

Diplomacy is a crucial branch, leading the way in promoting international integration, contributing to attracting resources to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization, and enhancing our country's standing.

The President stated that currently and in the future, diplomacy will increasingly have to handle a large and complex volume of work related to the country's security and development, while also dealing with urgent, global issues.

Therefore, we need a team of capable, intelligent, and experienced officials to handle the foreign affairs issues facing the country, serving the best interests of the nation. In addition to contributing to foreign affairs, the newly appointed Ambassadors should also leverage their experience to create a successor generation of officials.

The President affirmed: The State's conferment of the title of Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on 38 comrades this time is a testament to the trust placed in these ambassadors by the Party, the State, and the people. He expressed hope that the ambassadors will continue to strive to successfully implement the Party's foreign policy, making a worthy contribution to the country's development.
