National Assembly Chairwoman meets female Ambassadors in Vietnam
On the occasion of International Women's Day, March 8, this morning (March 5), at Thang Long Room, National Assembly House, National Assembly leaders met with female Ambassadors and Heads of International Organizations in Vietnam. Attending the meeting were President Tran Dai Quang and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

On behalf of the National Assembly of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent her warmest congratulations to female leaders of the Party and State, members of the Vietnam National Assembly Women's Delegation, female Ambassadors, and female Heads of International Organizations in Vietnam on the occasion of International Women's Day, March 8.
The National Assembly Chairman recalled that two years ago, in March 2015, during the days of preparation for the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-132) held in Vietnam, a meeting of female leaders and female Ambassadors and Heads of Representatives of international organizations was also held in this Thang Long room to celebrate the 105th anniversary of International Women's Day.
IPU-132 was a great success. The Hanoi Declaration “Sustainable Development Goals: Turning Words into Actions” was unanimously adopted by parliamentarians from 133 countries and 23 international parliamentary organizations.
It is an important document reflecting the vision and commitment to action of IPU member parliaments for sustainable development, with a people-centered approach, for the benefit of people and nations as well as promoting global cooperation.

The National Assembly Chairwoman said that, united in that common goal, female National Assembly deputies have created a forum to exchange and share working experiences and contribute to improving the quality of activities in the National Assembly, especially issues related to gender equality.
Following the 12th and 13th National Assembly, the Group of Women Deputies of the 14th National Assembly of Vietnam was established by the National Assembly Standing Committee in October 2016. On behalf of the National Assembly leadership, the National Assembly Chairwoman welcomed the results of the Group of Women Deputies of the Vietnam National Assembly in the past two terms and the first months of this term.
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hopes that in the coming time, along with promoting gender equality, narrowing the gender gap, aiming for substantive equality, improving the quality and effectiveness of female National Assembly deputies, the Group's activities will focus more on sustainable development goals such as poverty eradication; improving nutrition, ensuring healthy lives and improving welfare for all people of all ages; ensuring quality, open and equitable education, and improving lifelong learning opportunities for all.
In addition, the activities of female delegates need to promote long-term, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all; reduce inequality within and between countries; and take urgent measures to combat climate change and its impacts, to which Vietnam has committed together with the international community.
The group of female National Assembly deputies further promotes practical activities, with new action programs, with richer and more diverse forms of activities to contribute to further enhancing the role of Vietnamese women as well as female National Assembly deputies in the process of sustainable development, international integration, turning words into actions, and realizing sustainable development goals.

“Fortunately, Vietnam has always had the strong support of the international community, represented by female Ambassadors and Heads of International Organizations in Vietnam. Through this, Vietnam has been able to share lessons learned from other countries, receive support in terms of resources and technology to promote the integration process, the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals, and is accompanying Vietnam in its efforts to achieve the development goals by 2030,” the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also respectfully sent to President Tran Dai Quang and delegates representing National Assembly agencies, ministries, branches and localities her sincere thanks for always accompanying the National Assembly in the process of innovation and improving the quality of its activities, so that the National Assembly can truly unite, be creative and act for the benefit of the people, for national pride and the sustainable development of the country.
The National Assembly Chairwoman hopes that female Ambassadors and Heads of International Organizations in Vietnam will continue to promote their achievements and pass on their enthusiasm to the next generation of women, aiming for equality and progress for all./.
