The Strait Times quoted Mr. Tan Chuan-Jin - who is also the Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Singapore - as saying that Vietnam had organized a "high-class" SEA Games. He said: "It is difficult to organize a SEA Games amid the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, not to mention many other accompanying issues. To do that, Vietnam has shown that they are at a high level. I have talked to the athletes and officials of the Singapore delegation, they feel that everything is fine, especially the warm, friendly and cordial feelings here. I am really happy that Vietnam is hosting and organizing a SEA Games for countries in the region."
Also in the interview, Mr. Tan Chuan-Jin called on Singaporeans to continue cheering on the athletes competing in the 31st SEA Games - who have so far brought home 47 gold medals for the country's sports delegation. He emphasized: "We are all part of the expanded Team Singapore, what is really important is that the athletes receive everyone's attention and cheering. I am very grateful for the affection of Singaporean fans who came to Vietnam to cheer on our athletes."
