Ho Chi Minh City Chairman talks about Mr. Doan Ngoc Hai's resignation
Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong briefly discussed the resignation of Mr. Doan Ngoc Hai, Vice Chairman of District 1.
This morning (January 9), Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong said that the handling of Mr. Doan Ngoc Hai's resignation request is awaiting the opinion of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee because the Vice Chairman of District 1 is a cadre under the management of the City Party Committee.
“I also did not know about that intention (Mr. Hai asked to resign - PV). Now Mr. Hai is under the management of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, so the application will be transferred there and resolved,” said the City Chairman.
Evaluating Mr. Hai in the past time, Mr. Phong said that the Vice Chairman of District 1 is an energetic and responsible officer. After receiving comments, Mr. Hai has learned from his work experience.

“In general, Mr. Hai is an energetic and responsible person at work, especially in the work of arranging order on the sidewalks. When I gave my opinion the other day, he also learned from experience on a number of issues,” said Mr. Phong.
Previously, at the review meeting of the Standing Committee of District 1 Party Committee, Mr. Doan Ngoc Hai suddenly submitted his resignation.
In the application, Mr. Hai said that as soon as he was assigned as Vice Chairman in charge of urban areas in March 2016, he realized that sidewalk and roadside order was a key task that needed to be focused on and resolved because this problem had existed for decades without being resolved, while District 1 was the face of the city.
Mr. Hai wrote: "As a party member, I have steadfastly overcome all difficulties, open and covert sabotage, and threats to my life and my family's life from those who have lost illegal profits from encroaching on public property and social living space."
He also said that the process of restoring order to sidewalks in District 1 from January to October 2017 had created a positive effect, spreading throughout the country, and was highly appreciated by the Prime Minister and assigned to localities to implement.
"Looking back, I could not fulfill my promise to the people and the expectations of veteran revolutionaries about restoring order on the sidewalks, so I would like to resign from my position as Vice Chairman of District 1 People's Committee, as a member of the Standing Committee of District 1, and as a delegate of District 1 People's Council," Mr. Hai wrote.
At the end of the petition, Mr. Hai hopes to return as a good citizen and find fundamental solutions to help the poor make a living.
