Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung visited and extended New Year greetings to Chau Khe border commune; and presented gifts to the following units: the Mobile Training Battalion of the Border Guard, Chau Khe Border Guard Station, Con Cuong District Police, Con Cuong District Military Command, Chau Khe Commune Police and Chau Khe Commune Military Command.

Chau Khe is a border commune with 24km of border shared with Laos. The commune has 1,534 households belonging to four ethnic groups living together harmoniously. With a large area and difficult transportation, the commune's economy depends on agriculture and forestry. Currently, there are 230 poor households, accounting for 14.99%, with an average per capita income of 25 million VND/person/year.

The defense and security situation in the commune has been stable in recent years, with no hotspots. The commune successfully implemented the project to create a drug-free border commune, and was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Ministry of Public Security for its participation in the nationwide movement to protect national security in 2022.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung extended his respectful greetings and best wishes for a happy new year to the Party Committee, Government, armed forces, and people of Chau Khe commune in particular and Con Cuong district in general, wishing them good health, happiness, success, and many new victories in the new year.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated that 2022 has passed and the province has achieved very encouraging results. These include budget revenue of nearly 22,000 billion VND, of which domestic revenue was approximately 20,500 billion VND; and attracting nearly 1 billion USD in FDI.

As people's lives gradually improve, the province has mobilized many resources to care for policy beneficiaries and the poor. This achievement is due in part to the contributions of the Party Committee, government, armed forces, and people of Chau Khe commune in particular and Con Cuong district in general.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also expressed his delight and warmly commended the achievements in socio-economic development, national defense and security, and building national unity in Chau Khe commune in 2022.

In achieving these results, the armed forces in Con Cuong district and Chau Khe commune played a crucial role in building a national defense system, integrated with the people's security posture, effectively implementing the "3 close ties, 4 together" principles, contributing to the protection of security in the area and safeguarding border sovereignty.

Entering 2023 with many predicted difficulties and complexities, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that Party committees and authorities continue to lead, direct, and manage socio-economic development, ensuring livelihoods and production activities, prioritizing resources for infrastructure development, and caring for the people. During Tet (Lunar New Year), ensure that everyone has a happy holiday, leaving no one behind.

Regarding the armed forces, the head of the Provincial People's Committee requested that they effectively carry out military and national defense tasks, ensure stability in the area, closely monitor the situation from early on and from afar, avoid being caught off guard or surprised, and promptly handle any emerging issues. Attention should be paid to the material and spiritual well-being and morale of officers and soldiers, especially during the Lunar New Year, so that everyone is happy.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Duc Trung, also presented 50 gifts to 50 poor households and 5 solidarity houses to 5 poor families in the commune; and presented 50 gifts from the Chairman of the National Assembly, Vuong Dinh Hue, to 50 poor and policy-beneficiary households in Chau Khe commune.

Also in Chau Khe commune, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with the delegation, visited and presented gifts to the family of war veteran Kha Van Doan (70 years old), a 4/4 disabled veteran suffering from chemical poisoning; and visited and presented gifts to the family of Ms. Vi Thi Hai (66 years old, Thai ethnic group), a respected figure in the area.

During his visits to the families, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee cordially inquired about the health and well-being of the people. He also respectfully thanked the meritorious individuals and respected figures for their contributions to the cause of national construction and defense.

On the occasion of preparing to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Rabbit 2023, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung sent his best wishes to all families for a new year filled with health, happiness, and success; and expressed his hope that families would continue to contribute to the socio-economic development of the province and localities.
