Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian Duma: NATO is escalating the arms race against Russia
Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the State Duma (the Russian lower house of parliament) Leonid Slutsky said on January 29 that NATO is escalating the arms race not for peace or negotiations but to continue the geopolitical struggle against Russia.
In a statement posted on Telegram, he wrote Leonid Slutsky: "We should be clear: the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is rallying its ranks and escalating the arms race not for the sake of peace and negotiations, or the “fight for freedom”, but to continue the geopolitical confrontation with Russia. But such “obstinate games” with a nuclear power are extremely dangerous and a threat to everyone."

According to him, the West is sending "quite clear competitive signals". On the one hand, they say they do not want to escalate the conflict in Ukraine and oppose drawing NATO into this conflict, on the other hand, NATO officials assert that the bloc is prepared for a direct confrontation with Russia.
“German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock once spoke about the war against Russia. There was no objection from any Europeans at the time she made that comment,” Mr. Slutsky noted.
Mr. Leonid Slutsky said that “almost all NATO countries are involved in the process of escalating the conflict in one way or another by supplying weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. In fact, they are involved in the conflict in Ukraine. The question is whether they admit it or not"./.
