The forest fire in Nam Dan has not been controlled yet. More than 400 people are participating in putting out the fire at night.
(Baonghean.vn) - Although local authorities and forces have made efforts to put out the fire, as of 9:00 p.m. tonight, the forest fire in Thuong Tan Loc commune, Nam Dan district, has not been controlled and is calling for more forces to be mobilized for rescue.
According to information from the Forest Protection Department, immediately after the forest fire broke out at 10:00 a.m. on July 12, local authorities and forces quickly approached the scene to put out the fire. By about 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, some areas were under control, however, due to strong winds, the forest fire flared up again.
Although the forces had cut a firebreak of nearly 20 meters wide, the 5-7 meter high columns of fire had spread to other areas. At around 7 p.m. tonight, additional firefighting forces were sent to Nam Dan district, including the Forest Protection Department of Region 2, the army (about 200 people), and 5 fire trucks near residential areas to have a rescue plan when the fire spread, bringing the total number of forest firefighting forces to over 400 people.
A representative of Nghe An Forest Protection Department said: Because the fire is burning through the firebreak, the current firefighting plan is to find weak points to completely extinguish the fire. The current difficulty is the steep and dangerous terrain, putting out the fire at night is very dangerous, not to mention the heat from the fire is so high that it is very difficult for forces to approach.
As of 9:30 p.m. tonight, forces are still continuing to put out the forest fire.
