Preparing for the process of compiling a dossier on the Then singing heritage.
On June 11th, the Institute of Music (Vietnam National Academy of Music) organized a scientific conference titled "Then Tày - Nùng - Thái: Past and Present," with the participation of scientists, cultural researchers, and representatives from the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of 11 out of 12 localities where Then art is practiced.

In over 20 presentations, topics that were clarified and explained in detail by many delegates included: the history and characteristics of Then singing heritage (in terms of culture, literature, art, costumes, etc.); the position, role, attitudes, and activities of the community towards Then singing heritage in past and present society; and the official name of the heritage recorded in the dossier. After the workshop, the Institute of Music will synthesize and refine the agreed-upon content and conduct further research to build a national dossier on Then singing heritage, to be submitted to UNESCO for inscription as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2015.
