Preparing for summit on improving inter-Korean relations

The South Korean presidential office on September 15 held a meeting to review preparations for the third inter-Korean summit this year, scheduled to take place next week.

Im Jong-seok, the chief of the presidential office and head of the summit preparation committee, chaired the meeting, which focused on the results of the inter-Korean working-level meeting held the day before at the truce village of Panmunjom to agree on security, protocol and press coverage.

As planned, President Moon Jae-in will fly directly to Pyongyang.

Major summit events, including the first meeting between the two leaders, will be broadcast live. The South Korean delegation to Pyongyang is expected to include about 200 people.

An advance delegation from South Korea, led by Suh Ho, presidential secretary for unification, will arrive in Pyongyang on September 16 via the western land route.

About 100 people, including Mr. Kwun Hyuk-ki - spokesman, in charge of the press center of the South Korean President's Office and radio and television technicians will also go to Pyongyang in advance to prepare for the summit.

According to plan, South Korean President Moon Jae-in will visit Pyongyang from September 18-20, hold his third summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, discuss denuclearization of the Korean peninsula as well as ways to improve inter-Korean relations.

The two leaders have had two summits this year, the first on April 27 and the second on May 26./.
