Thorough preparations are underway for the ceremony to receive the Certificate of Cultural Heritage for the Ví Giặm folk songs of Nghe Tinh.

(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of December 20, 2014, in Vinh City, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to assign and review matters related to the organization of the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate honoring Nghe Tinh folk songs, including the Ví and Giặm styles, as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee – presided over the meeting. Also present were Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh – Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the leaders of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces, and other relevant departments and agencies.

With the aim of honoring the intangible cultural heritage of Nghe An folk songs, including the Ví and Giặm styles, and preserving and promoting the Nghệ Tĩnh Ví and Giặm folk song heritage to spread even more widely, the ceremony is scheduled to take place at 7:30 PM on January 31, 2015, at Ho Chi Minh Square. The program will be broadcast live on VTV1, VTV4, NTV, and HTV. To ensure the ceremony is solemn and leaves a deep impression on the public and international friends, thorough preparation is essential. At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported on the preparations for the ceremony. They advised on the establishment of subcommittees to organize the UNESCO certificate reception ceremony; organized publicity through mass media, banners, and slogans on main roads in Vinh City and surrounding areas; and focused publicity through the Nghe An newspaper, Nghe An Radio and Television Station, as well as the production of VCDs about Ví and Giặm folk songs. Press conferences are scheduled to be held in Hanoi at the end of December and in Vinh City on January 22nd; an art program titled "Returning to the Land of Ví and Giặm" will be developed and performed at the ceremony.

During the meeting, delegates discussed several issues related to the ceremony program, such as welcoming delegates and guests, the program itself, and security. On this occasion, author Vu Hai – the scriptwriter for "Returning to the Land of Vi and Giam Folk Songs" – also presented the specific and detailed content and ideas for the 50-minute artistic program, which is the main program aimed at introducing and promoting the Vi and Giam folk song heritage of Nghe An province.

Concluding the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the two provinces to urgently finalize the script and program content for the ceremony in detail. He also requested a review of the tasks of each subcommittee, and that members assigned to these tasks promptly and efficiently get to work. He further requested updating the guest lists, especially those of central and provincial leaders from previous periods. Specifically, the "Returning to the Land of Ví and Giặm" art program must showcase the most exquisite and distinctive aspects of Nghệ An's folk songs and Ví and Giặm traditions.
