According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, at 8am on November 10, the Ministry of Transport will organize the 2015 aviation search and rescue exercise at Bai Lu, Nghi Yen commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province.

Accordingly, the drill scenario will be: On domestic air route W2, flight DT2015, Super King Air 200 aircraft takes off from Noi Bai airport to Dong Hoi airport. After passing the DVOR/DME Nam Ha navigation station for 12 minutes, the Hanoi Area Control Center (ACC HAN) receives a report from the crew: "The aircraft has engine failure, please land at Vinh airport". 5 minutes later, the aircraft turns on the emergency code 7700 and reports additionally: "Engine power is reduced and there is smoke in the cockpit, please make an emergency landing".

Immediately after that, the signal on the radar screen was lost and it was impossible to contact the aircraft. In this situation, the Aviation Search and Rescue System activated the search and rescue plan. The forces deployed the search and rescue plan for the crashed aircraft.

The force participating in this exercise will be about 400 people from the Civil Aviation industry, the Ministry of National Defense, forces and people of Nghe An province.

Equipment and means will include 2 specialized search and rescue aircraft, seaplanes, 7 maritime search and rescue ships and boats; ships of the Coast Guard, Border Guard, 11 specialized search and rescue vehicles and equipment for aviation transport vehicles...

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, this exercise aims to train and improve the ability to organize, command and operate search and rescue (SAR) operations in flight information regions and authorized airspace and authorized airspace areas undertaken by Vietnam.

This is also an opportunity to test the ability to organize, command, coordinate and operate aviation rescue operations. Practice techniques to search for the location of low-altitude aircraft in distress based on distress signal information received from the ELT system.

In addition, the exercise also has the effect of propagating and disseminating to organizations, units and people the reality of search and rescue activities and the responsibilities and obligations of localities, organizations and individuals in this activity.

Through the exercise, Vietnam will also introduce and demonstrate to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), civil aviation organizations and aircraft operators in the region and the world its ability to ensure search and rescue services.

The Civil Aviation Authority said that due to its special geographical location, most airlines in the world must fly through Vietnam's flight information region. And to fulfill its international commitment to ensuring aviation search and rescue, Vietnam will organize rescue drills every two years.
