(Baonghean.vn) - The Hang Bua Festival originates from the ancient Thai people's custom of worshipping the Mother of Water. This is a traditional festival deeply rooted in the culture of the ethnic groups in Western Nghe An. The festival is associated with the Tham Om - Tham Bua archaeological site, with many beautiful scenic spots that have been recognized as a national historical site by the Ministry of Culture and Information since 1997... The festival is a place for cultural exchange with many rich forms of folk art, containing elements of customs, traditions, and cultural activities of the Thai ethnic group.
As in previous years, the Hang Bua Festival is held from the 20th to the 22nd of the first lunar month. February 19th, 2014 was the first day of the Hang Bua Festival. In the morning, the festival organizing committee arranged camping for participating units in the Hang Bua area. In the afternoon, a ceremony was held at the temple of the tutelary deity of Muong Chieng Ngam. Shamans reported to the spirits that the Hang Bua Festival would open the next day, inviting the gods to the temple to celebrate and bless the festival so that it would proceed peacefully. In the evening, the organizing committee held a cultural performance for the participating communes and towns.
In the festival area right in front of Hang Bua Cave, the Organizing Committee also set up two stalls selling brocade and rattan weaving products. The festival is a good opportunity for Quy Chau district to promote business and trade activities in the area. At this 2014 festival, many stalls set up by local people were ready to serve the needs of locals and tourists for entertainment, food, and sightseeing.
