(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 13, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital officially put the prenatal and neonatal screening and diagnosis department (Obstetrics Department) into operation.

After a period of preparation in terms of facilities, human resources, and equipment, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has put the prenatal and neonatal screening and diagnosis department into operation. This examination is carried out in accordance with the procedures issued by the Ministry of Health.

Prenatal and neonatal screening and diagnosis are essential to detect, intervene and treat early diseases, metabolic and genetic disorders during the fetal and neonatal stages, helping children to develop normally or avoid serious physical and intellectual consequences, reduce the number of people with disabilities and intellectual disabilities, and improve population quality.

The screening clinic is equipped with many modern machines such as 4D ultrasound machine, worth over 3 billion VND.

Aiming to establish the North Central Region Prenatal Diagnosis Center, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has built a unit to develop prenatal screening and diagnosis for approval by the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee. At the same time, the Hospital also purchased additional equipment and sent staff for training at the central level.
