One person was swept away by floodwaters after taking shelter in a drain.
(Baonghean.vn) - This morning (September 17), information from the People's Committee of Ky Son district (Nghe An province) indicated that a woman was swept away by floodwaters and died in the area.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 PM on September 16th, when Mr. Kha Bua Thi (born in 1953) and his wife, Ms. Cut Thi Hanh (born in 1964), residing in Son Thanh village, Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district, were returning home from working in the fields when they encountered heavy rain and strong winds. The couple immediately took shelter in a drainage pipe located beside National Highway 7A to escape the rain.
However, due to floodwaters from upstream carrying mud and rocks, the couple was swept away. Ms. Hanh died immediately after suffering severe impacts. Mr. Thi is currently injured and has been taken to the hospital by local residents.
Due to the impact of typhoon number 3, Nghe An province has experienced thunderstorms and strong winds. In mountainous areas, there is a very high risk of flash floods, landslides, and mudslides, so people need to take precautions and be vigilant.
