New comprehensive general education program to improve human resource quality

At this program, more than half of the time, delegates were given an overview of the new comprehensive general education program. The program is currently in the process of collecting opinions for the draft but has received attention from the whole society, especially those working in the education sector.

The editor-in-chief of the General Education Program also affirmed: The innovation of the general education program at this time is considered urgent to meet the demands of reality and catch up with the general trend of humanity. The main purpose is to improve the quality of human resources, equip future generations with a solid cultural foundation and high adaptability to all changes in nature and society.

Also at the program, with a frank and open-minded spirit, Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuyet also directly answered questions from delegates about the innovations in the draft of the new General Education Program.

In addition, some opinions also expressed concerns during the implementation process such as how the organization and assessment of exams will be implemented when the general education program gives autonomy to schools, the application of new school models, teacher needs, etc.

Through this talk, the leadership team and key officials of the Department of Education and Training, universities and high schools have an overview of the general education program in the coming period.

On that basis, there are important orientations in the work of training teachers, building programs, and reorganizing teaching programs in accordance with the spirit of innovation set forth by the Ministry of Education and Training.

This is the fourth time Vietnam has innovated its general education program. According to experts, the current education program has shown limitations such as focusing on knowledge transfer, not meeting the requirements for the formation and development of students' qualities and abilities, not paying attention to career guidance, not paying attention to practical skills, and skills in applying knowledge to reality.

In the world, according to Professor Nguyen Minh Thuyet, the innovation of general education programs is carried out continuously by countries. For example, Korea has innovated 9 times in the past 100 years, and developed countries have adjusted textbooks every year. In Vietnam, the most recent innovation began in 1996 and was officially implemented in 2000. In the three previous innovations, a comprehensive and scientific program was not yet developed.
