Transporting 144 kg of fireworks from China to Vietnam for relatives and friends to celebrate Tet
At 7:00 p.m. on September 21, at the border riverbank area of Van Toc village, Quang Duc commune, Hai Ha district (Quang Ninh), the Quang Duc Border Guard Station - Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard arrested two subjects (one male, one female) using a hand-pulled cart to illegally transport 6 boxes of firecrackers from China to Vietnam.
The subjects transporting the fireworks were Tran Van Tuan (born in 1986, residing in village 3, Quang Thanh commune, Hai Ha district) and Nguyen Thi Ha (a Vietnamese woman married to a Chinese man (born in 1990, residing in Than San village, Na Luong town, China).
The smuggled fireworks were contained in 6 cardboard boxes with Chinese characters, containing 100 boxes of fireworks. Each box had similar characteristics, size, and shape, 36 tubes/set, each box was 14 cm x 14 cm x 15 cm, with a total weight of 144 kg.

At Quang Duc Border Guard Station, the subjects confessed: On the afternoon of September 21, Nguyen Thi Ha bought 6 boxes of fireworks at Than San market (China) for 1,800 yuan, then hired someone to transport them to the border riverbank and asked Mr. Toan (born in 1983, residing in Hai Dong village, Quang Thanh commune, Hai Ha district), who often trades in China, to go to Mr. Van's house (Van Toc village) to hire someone to transport the above fireworks across the border river.
Toan asked Tran Van Tuan to wade across the river to China to pull the foam board carrying 6 boxes of firecrackers to Van's house and put it on a hand-pulled cart, pulling it into Mr. Van's yard. While pulling the firecrackers, he was arrested by the authorities.
Nguyen Thi Ha's purpose in buying the above fireworks was to transport them back to her hometown in Da Trach commune, Khoai Chau, Hung Yen for relatives and friends to use during Tet.
Quang Duc Border Guard Station seized all the evidence including 1 phone, 6 cartons containing firecrackers, 16 Chinese banknotes each with a face value of 100 yuan, 1 hand-pulled ox cart, and made a record to handle the case according to the provisions of law.
