On November 21, Hainan Airlines successfully completed the first transoceanic flight using biofuel, according to a TTXVN reporter in Beijing, citing Xinhua News Agency.
A Hainan Airlines Boeing 787, departing from Beijing to Chicago, USA, was filled with biofuel recycled from waste cooking oil by China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC).
According to Hainan Airlines, using biofuel can significantly cut carbon emissions while ensuring flight safety and efficiency.
The flight is part of a “green aviation” cooperation project between China and the US.
It is known that Hainan Airlines carried out the first domestic passenger flight using biofuel in China in 2015./.
