The story goes that: There was a young man named Ughetto who came from a noble family in Milan. He worked as a falconer for the duke and fell in love with the daughter of a baker named Tony. Because of the girl's low birth, the two could not be together. So the young man thought of a way to work in the girl's bakery so that they could be together and help her prepare cakes.

But business was not good, so he thought of selling his falcon and using the money to buy better ingredients to make cakes such as: butter, candied fruit, raisins. After many attempts, the shop was crowded with customers lining up to buy at Mr. Tony's shop.

From then on the cake was named Panettone which also means Tony's bread. And the boy's name Ughetto is similar to the local word for raisins (Ugheti) which is also the main ingredient of this cake. From then on they became rich and the boy was able to marry her.

Buche de Noel is also known as Yule log cake.
