The untold story of the Party branch secretary who excelled in business.
(Baonghean.vn) - Not only is he an exemplary and enthusiastic Party branch secretary in all movements, Mr. Lang Thai Hoa from Cam Son commune, Anh Son district, also had the honor of being one of 34 delegates from Nghe An province to attend the 2016 conference honoring outstanding influential people in the Northwest region. This is a great honor and source of pride for him, reflecting his efforts and contributions during his 13 years as a Party branch secretary.
Throughout his time as Party Branch Secretary, with his enthusiasm, dedication, perseverance, and tireless efforts as the "leader," he always received strong support from the villagers..
Having served as a soldier on the battlefield since 1979, Mr. Lang Thai Hoa returned to his hometown in 1990 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam. Upholding the admirable qualities of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army, Mr. Hoa is always simple, approachable, a good listener, empathetic, and enthusiastic in all movements. Mr. Lang Thai Hoa shared: "To achieve high effectiveness in grassroots propaganda and mobilization work, one must be close to, respect, and listen to the legitimate opinions of the people. At the same time, one must be a pioneer in emulation movements and campaigns. Only then will people trust and agree when going out to spread information and mobilize support."
Cam Hoa village has 143 households and 663 inhabitants, of whom 100% are ethnic Thai people and 13% are Catholic. The villagers still face many difficulties in their lives. In response to this situation, Mr. Hoa took the time to understand and grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the villagers, actively encouraging them to change their way of thinking and doing things, and to utilize the potential and advantages of their land, transforming the structure of crops and livestock to develop the economy.
In 2010, noticing that some localities in the district were cultivating tea for industrial purposes and achieving high economic efficiency, Mr. Lang Thai Hoa boldly removed some low-yielding crops on his family's hillside land and improved the soil to switch to experimental tea cultivation on an area of 3 sao (approximately 0.3 hectares).
Thanks to diligent care, after more than 3 years, the tea plants yielded a harvest and brought income to the family. From just 3 sao (approximately 0.3 hectares) of tea, the family has now expanded the area to over 1 hectare. In addition, he also planted 7 hectares of acacia and eucalyptus forest combined with raising buffalo and cattle. Each year, after deducting expenses, his family earns nearly 100 million VND.

Seeing the success that tea cultivation brought to his family, Mr. Hoa encouraged villagers to plant tea on less productive hillside areas to increase their income. As a result, the entire village now has 100.7 hectares of industrial tea plantations. Previously a village solely focused on rice cultivation, the people of Cam Hoa have now diversified their crops, concentrating on livestock and poultry farming for commercial purposes. In addition to industrial tea cultivation, the villagers of Cam Hoa have also planted 340 hectares of forest, mainly acacia and eucalyptus, and raise 332 buffaloes and cows.
Currently, the village has many well-off families, earning between 40 and 50 million VND per year, with some households earning 100 million VND per year, such as the families of Ms. Lo Thi Thuy and Mr. Lang Van Dung. From 80% of households living in poverty in 2010, the village now only has 30% poor households, with an average per capita income of 26.7 million VND per year; 80% of households have achieved the title of "Culturally Advanced Family". In addition, Mr. Hoa has actively encouraged villagers to abandon outdated cultural customs, and to date, 100% of households have built livestock pens far from their houses and constructed hygienic toilets; 100% of households in the village have signed commitments to protect the environment and implement a new cultural lifestyle.
The village has established a set of regulations specifying a new cultural lifestyle, which has been agreed upon and strictly implemented by the people. Now, Cam Hoa village has become a community living together in a spirit of equality and solidarity between Catholics and non-Catholics. The lives of the people in Cam Hoa village have improved significantly, and the economy is gradually developing.
