Since 2013, Nghe An has converted over 4,200 hectares of rice land to other crops. |
Concluding the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated: Converting crop structure on rice land is not only on inefficient rice land but also on favorable rice land to achieve higher economic efficiency.
The conversion must ensure the goal of increasing the value of output and income on rice-growing land, increasing income for people while still ensuring food security for both the short and long term. The conversion of rice land to other crops must follow the principle of not losing suitable conditions for growing rice again, not causing pollution and degradation of rice-growing land and not damaging irrigation works serving rice cultivation.
