Abu Zarin Hussin, 33, a firefighter nicknamed The Snake Whisperer, died on March 16 after spending four days in hospital after being bitten by a venomous snake while trying to capture the reptile.
Hussin, who lives in Pahang state, Malaysia, suddenly became famous when he was mistaken for a Thai man who married a snake because he believed it was his girlfriend reincarnated. According toMetro, photos from Hussin's Facebook page were used in those articles, prompting him to speak out to clarify.
"Those pictures are mine. They used my pictures and made up stories, saying I married a snake," Hussin said.
After becoming famous for his snake-catching skills, Hussin participated in Asia's Got Talent, where he played football with large snakes before "kissing" one of them.
According to local newspaperThe Star, Hussin, an employee of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, often guides other colleagues on how to identify and handle snakes.
Hussin survived a snake attack in 2015 after being in a coma for two days. He has four cobras at home to better understand their behavior.
