Vietnamese football expert: 'Should keep coach Nguyen Huu Thang'

(Baonghean.vn) - In the seminar program "The future of Vietnamese football", expert Vu Manh Hai and former coach Le Thuy Hai frankly pointed out the core issues of Vietnamese football.

Opening the seminar "For the future of Vietnamese football", football expert Vu Manh Hai pointed out some shortcomings of Vietnamese football, the reasons for the failure of the Vietnamese national team in important campaigns such as the AFF Cup or SEA Games. And the responsibility of the National Coaching Council in those failures.

At the same time, he expressed regret for the departure of Coach Nguyen Huu Thang. Expert Vu Manh Hai said that Coach Huu Thang had built a beautiful, effective and attractive playing style, bringing emotions to the fans. However, it was the management and operation of the Professional Department, the Coaching Council, and the VFF that caused the National Team Head Coach to make some regrettable mistakes as analyzed by the press.

As for Coach Le Thuy Hai, the veteran strategist went straight to the hottest issues of Vietnamese football today, including Coach Huu Thang's resignation after the recent 2017 SEA Games.

"Coach Nguyen Huu Thang is a capable person, he did not have enough time to train, coach and make good use of the factors in the team, that is the reason for the failure of the Vietnam team and U23 in the past time" - Mr. Le Thuy Hai analyzed.

Continuing his speech and sharing, Mr. Le Thuy Hai criticized many people without football expertise who still hold key positions in the 7th VFF. He suggested that the VFF needs a technical director with long-term orientation, creating an identity or a National Coaching Council to monitor and evaluate the entire working process of the coach.

Currently, VFF is wasting the “brainpower” of the technical director. And most importantly, the decentralization of key positions in the national team or club requires many people with high expertise and understanding of the strength of national football.

As an experienced coach, Mr. Le Thuy Hai proposed that VFF should open training courses and require experts in charge and coaches to attend to popularize new things. At the same time, VFF needs to take advantage of domestic coaches instead of foreign coaches, because domestic coaches will have many advantages in exchanging expertise during matches, sharing the same culture and understanding each player thoroughly without needing much time to learn... And finally, the technical director must also converge those factors to understand, create identity, and inheritance for Vietnamese football.

Regarding referee Duong Manh Hung's presentation, he contributed his opinion based on the title: "Are referees victims or criminals?" Known as a straightforward and upright person, the 2006 Vietnam Golden Whistle is not afraid to speak out about the shortcomings and negative aspects of the refereeing profession in Vietnam. Also in this seminar was Lawyer Tran Vu Hai. Mr. Hai relied on FIFA's regulations to speak out about the barriers and limitations in the organization and operation of the Vietnam Football Federation.
