Viktor Murakhovsky, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine “Arsenal Otechestva”, member of the expert council of the Russian military-industrial complex, commented on the statement of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that the alliance intends to adopt a new military strategy due to the nuclear threat from Russia.

“After the failure of NATO operations in Afghanistan, the only excuse used to further strengthen the military alliance and increase funding is this “mythical” military threat,” the expert said.

Mr. Murakhovsky stressed that Russia has no plans to attack any NATO country, does not deploy troops, and within the framework of the Vienna agreement allows inspectors from the alliance countries free access to the object of interest.

“However, NATO representatives have stopped all forms of information exchange with us, the NATO-Russia Council has been dissolved, experts do not communicate with each other, all contacts have been virtually suspended. Under these conditions, it is easy for the alliance to invent and disseminate stories about the Russian threat through the Western media, because Russian representatives cannot access the discussion area,” he concluded.

Earlier, Mr. Stoltenberg said the alliance planned to adopt a new military strategy because of the “nuclear threat” from Russia.
