France, despite President Emmanuel Macron’s aggressive rhetoric, does not have the resources to engage in a fierce war in Ukraine; it may even have only enough ammunition for 2-3 days, Cyril de Lattre, a French aviation expert and former pilot, told Sputnik.

Mr Macron had previously spoken of the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, declaring that France had “no limits or red lines” when it came to supporting Kiev. His comments were harshly criticised by some NATO partners, including Germany, as well as political forces in France.

“The French military potential is not sufficient to wage a high-intensity war in Ukraine. Moreover, what is happening in Ukraine is essentially the result of a total failure of NATO and the West in general. The French army is reduced to a minimum. We have at most two or three days of ammunition in a high-intensity war,” de Lattre said.

According to him, this is why Macron will never risk sending regular troops to Ukraine.

“On the other hand, the French President can use special forces units in Ukraine. This has already happened, especially on the Ukrainian — Moldovia — Romanian border, in an attempt to protect the seaport of Odessa, to provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons,” the expert noted.
