Western experts warn that NATO is pushing for world war
NATO is pushing the world to the brink of a world war and hiding behind meaningless slogans about “Ukraine’s right to self-defense,” said Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway.
“When NATO brings the world to the brink of global war, shouldn't we at least have a rational discussion about what is happening, instead of running away with meaningless slogans like 'Does Ukraine have the right to defend itself?',” Diesen wrote in an article published on his website.

The expert noted that Vladimir Putin’s argument that allowing Kiev to launch long-range Western strikes on Russian territory would directly draw NATO into the conflict is reasonable and deserves serious discussion. However, as Diesen emphasized, in the West “there is no more reasonable discussion” because any sympathy or understanding of Russia’s position is considered treason.
Diesen also questioned how deeply NATO could get involved in the conflict before crossing the “fine line” between proxy conflict with Russia and direct confrontation.
US President Joe Biden previously announced that work was underway to allow Ukraine to use ATACMS to strike deep into the territory of the Russian Federation. In turn, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday that he would convey to Biden the results of discussions on this issue during his visit to Ukraine.
Earlier, the White House, in its final statement after the meeting between US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, did not mention the US leader's decision to allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch long-range Western missile strikes deep into Russian territory. Before the meeting, Biden told White House reporters that the issue would be discussed during negotiations with Starmer.
Earlier, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, answering a question about the possible response of the Russian Federation to new attacks on Russian territory, noted that the head of state and the military are aware of this, “who are taking appropriate countermeasures and preparations.” He also noted that President Putin’s statement on the consequences of attacks deep into Russian territory was extremely clear and certainly reached the intended recipient.
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Putin called the goal “to protect those who have been subjected to eight years of abuse and genocide by the Kiev regime.” He noted that the special operation was a forced measure, Russia “had no other options, the security risks created were such that it was impossible to respond with other measures.”
According to Mr. Putin, Russia has been trying for 30 years to reach an agreement with NATO on the principles of security in Europe, but in response it has faced cynical deception and lies, or attempts at pressure and blackmail, while the alliance has faced cynical deception and lies. Meanwhile, despite Moscow's objections, NATO has gradually expanded and approached the borders of the Russian Federation.
Recently, the opinion about a direct armed conflict between NATO and the Russian Federation has been increasingly voiced in the West. The Kremlin noted that the Russian Federation does not pose a threat, does not threaten anyone, but will not ignore actions that could endanger its interests.
In addition, in recent years, the Russian Federation has noted unprecedented NATO activity near its Western borders. The alliance is expanding its initiatives, calling it a "deterrent to Russian aggression." Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern about the alliance's buildup in Europe.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Moscow remains open to dialogue with NATO but on an equal basis, while the West must abandon the process of militarizing the continent.
Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlsondetailed explanationMoscow will not attack NATO countries, this is nonsense. The Russian leader noted that Western politicians often threaten their people with imaginary threats from Russia in order to divert attention from internal problems, but “smart people know very well that this is a fake”.
