Military expert: "The West's fear of Russia is exaggerated"
Military analysts at the Swedish Defence Research Institute (FOI) believe that Western countries' fears about potential Russian military actions in the Baltic Sea region are exaggerated.
In a report published on Monday, March 3, Swedish analysts said that the actual range of the S-400 missile is not 400 km as Russia stated, but 150-200 km.
“In our report, we assert that Russia's capabilities to create a “protected area” (A2/AD zone) are less than what the Russian military or the Western press says,” — said one of the authors of the report, Robert Dalsjo.
According to Mr. Dalsjo, "this shows that Russia's A2/AD zone does not prevent the possibility of deploying additional forces in the Baltic to counter a Russian attack, the situation (of Western countries) is not hopeless, despite the statements of some experts".
The report's authors argue that to counter Russia, Western countries must first invest in the development and production of guided missiles and electronic warfare means.
