Military expert talks about Russia's fighter jet combat power that worries Ukraine
Military expert, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk spoke about the combat power of the MiG-31 fighter in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Matviychuk told Russian media that the Russian fighter allows the Russian forces to control the situation in the combat zone.
“This is a vehicle specially designed for air missile defense. Firstly, it reaches an altitude of more than 20 thousand meters, that is, a ceiling of 20 km, and a range of 3.5 thousand km. It allows you to control the situation, including the situation when it launches Kinzhal missiles. The MiG-31 Kinzhal system is inaccessible to systems designed for enemy missile defense,” the expert explained.
Earlier, the American magazine National Interest wrote that the Russian MiG-31 fighter is causing considerable concern in Kiev. As journalists have made clear, it has proven to be a good attack aircraft.
“Every time the Mig-31 takes off from Russian bases near Ukraine, an airstrike warning is announced throughout the country,” the journalists stressed, noting that the reason for such attention to the aircraft is the Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missile, which has a very high speed and a significant range.
