Military expert: “The Ukrainian president decided to violate the Russian border for two reasons”
FSB reports on the seizure of Ukrainian Navy vessels that violated the Russian state border. In an interview with Sputnik, military-political scientist Andrei Koshkin assessed the extent of the decision taken by the Ukrainian side to provoke in the Black Sea.
"Most likely, the border violation was the decision of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, and this decision was related to his internal political agenda, in particular, to the election campaign. He wanted to solve the problem of declining popularity. And in order to win the election, the decision to provoke was made. This led to the introduction of martial law for 60 days, which proves that Petro Poroshenko decided to secure a new presidential term by force. But there was also an external reason - this was the G-20 summit in Buenos Aires, where the President of the Russian Federation was to meet with the President of the United States. And, most likely, Poroshenko wanted to draw attention to Ukraine," said Andrei Koshkin.
