Expert of the Swedish Institute for Defense Studies Jonas Kjellen assessed that Russia is falling behind Western countries in terms of military.

In a report assessing Russia's electronic warfare, analysts said Russia is falling behind Western countries militarily.

According to him, Moscow's electronic warfare strategy is based on protecting personnel, equipment and military infrastructure at the expense of "defensive and preventive measures."

"Russia cannot afford to catch up with the latest Western developments. It is cheaper to focus on reducing visibility and protecting (the subject),"- Kjeelen believes.

The Swedish expert explained the appearance of a large number of electronic warfare (EW) devices in Russia as a move to "revive" old Soviet developments, "aimed at countering NATO and the United States".

The Swedish expert's assessment contradicts the views of many Western analysts. For example, in June last year, an expert from the US Center for Naval Analyses, Samuel Bendett, said that Russia was ahead of the United States in the field of electronic warfare.

According to him, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Washington stopped developing a significant part of EW, so they faced problems in the confrontation with Moscow.

In addition, the RAND Corporation's strategic research center, working on behalf of the US government and armed forces, has modeled a military conflict between the United States and its adversaries, referring to Russia and China.

As a result of the simulation, the team of experts concluded that Washington would lose to its opponent in a non-nuclear conflict.
