General Secretary and President To Lam's visit to China was successful in all aspects.

On the afternoon of August 20, the plane carrying General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in Hanoi, successfully concluding the state visit to China.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said that the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam is a particularly important foreign activity between Vietnam and China this year.

The visit was a great success in all aspects, contributing significantly to the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary and President To Lam had a very rich and meaningful program of activities with 18 activities over 2 days. The two sides issued a Joint Statement on further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, deepening the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future.

Ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries have signed many cooperation documents in the fields of testing - quarantine, customs, health, communications, local cooperation and people's livelihood.

The Foreign Minister said that during the discussions, the two sides reached a broad common understanding on further strengthening the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the direction of “6 more”, focusing on concretizing the common understanding and agreements between the two sides.

In the coming time, the two sides will maintain strategic exchanges between high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, consolidate the foundation of political trust, and jointly orient the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

The two sides will fully promote the role of the Party channel, the cooperation committee mechanisms between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and defense, security, and diplomatic exchange mechanisms.

The two sides agreed to promote the overall coordinating role of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation; and strengthen defense and security cooperation.

"Based on the "6 more" orientation, Vietnam and China continue to concretize the high-level common perception and signed agreements; bring substantive cooperation to new progress; facilitate trade, expand the export of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to the Chinese market.

The two countries will also promote the connection of development strategies between the two countries, and effectively implement the Cooperation Plan connecting the “Two Corridors, One Belt” Framework with the “Belt and Road” Initiative.

In addition, accelerate the promotion of "hard connections" between the two countries in terms of high-speed railways, highways, and border gate infrastructure; upgrade "soft connections" in terms of smart customs and smart border gates.

The two sides encourage and support enterprises with strength, reputation and advanced technology to invest in the other country, focusing on strengthening cooperation in agriculture and infrastructure; expanding cooperation in new fields such as: digital economy, circular economy, green development, clean energy, renewable energy.

2025 is the "Year of Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange"

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said that the two countries agreed to make 2025 the "Year of Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange" and will jointly organize a series of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

In addition, strengthen cultural exchange, cooperation in media, news, publishing, radio and television; strengthen cooperation in health care, traditional medicine, prevention and mitigation of natural disaster impacts; expand and improve the effectiveness of local cooperation, people-to-people exchange, especially among the younger generation; promote tourism cooperation, open more air routes...

Vietnam and China will strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation; enhance coordination in mechanisms such as the United Nations and APEC; and support each other's candidacy for international organizations.

China supports Vietnam in hosting APEC 2027; supports Vietnam in joining and promoting its role in multilateral mechanisms. China supports ASEAN in building a united, united, self-reliant and developing ASEAN Community, maintaining its central role in the regional structure.

The Minister affirmed that the two countries will continue to implement the high-level common perception, better control and actively resolve disagreements at sea; reaffirm the importance of maintaining and promoting peace, stability, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, and agree to handle disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The two sides continued to coordinate effectively in implementing legal documents on land borders and related agreements, enhancing cooperation in land border areas, and successfully organizing the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Land Border Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the signing of three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border.
