Quang Nam Club: 'Mr. Duc needs to speak up when HAGL benefits from the referee'

Mr. Nguyen Hup, CEO of Quang Nam Club, was upset when the team received an unfair loss in the match against HAGL in V-League 2017 on the afternoon of April 2.

Quang Nam players reacted to the referee's decision to accept the goal.

“This morning, linesman Viet Thai called me and admitted his mistake in allowing HAGL’s offside goal, which led to our defeat in the match on the afternoon of April 2,” Nguyen Hup told the press. “We accepted the apology but still filed a complaint to the V-League Organizing Committee. This mistake was so serious that it cost us the chance to rise to the top.”

The controversial situation happened in the 51st minute. The ball hit the crossbar after Cong Phuong's volley, found Ngoc Quang's feet and bounced into the net. The HAGL defender was in an offside position and despite the reaction of the away players,The referee still allowed the goal.

After the match, assistant referee Viet Thai admitted his mistake, saying the situation happened so quickly that he couldn't keep up.

“Previously, Mr. Duc complained about the refereeing issue, saying that the head of the Referee Board should be replaced. Now, Mr. Duong Van Hien has replaced Mr. Nguyen Van Mui in assigning referees, but in the end, there is no difference. The referees are still wrong. Mr. Duc should also speak up in this case, when his team benefits from the referee's mistakes,” Mr. Nguyen Hup added.

The defeat at Pleiku Stadium caused Quang Nam to miss the opportunity to rise to the top of V-League 2017. This team currently has 19 points like Hanoi and Thanh Hoa but loses in goal difference.
