Chinese club beats Chelsea to win PSG star

Argentine winger Ezequiel Lavezzi has agreed to join Chinese Super League side Hebei Zhongjia for a transfer fee of nearly $34 million.

Lavezzi wants to leave PSG in the winter transfer window this year. The Argentine international has lost his regular starting position since compatriot Angel di Maria joined the Parc des Princes from Man Utd in the summer of 2015.

Lavezzi accepted to give up the opportunity to play top football in Europe to follow the call of money from China.

The 30-year-old attacker's disappointment in Paris led to a race involving big names like Inter, Juventus, and Chelsea. But in the end, three of Europe's top clubs lost out to the financial might of a Chinese club - Hebei China Fortune.

The former Napoli star has agreed to all the terms of the contract, just waiting for the moment to put pen to paper and make his debut for the Hebei club. At the rich Chinese Premier League team, Lavezzi will play alongside former Arsenal player Gervinho. Lavezzi is set to earn nearly $15 million in just one season.

Another PSG star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has also been sought after by Shanghai Shenhua. But the Paris club have rejected all transfer interest in the Swedish striker.
