The Prime Minister's office and Pakistan's state television PTV reported that gunmen shot and killed 11 people, including 10 foreign tourists, in a remote mountainous area of ​​northern Pakistan in the early hours of June 23.

PTV quoted Ali Sher, a senior police official, as saying that among the tourists killed were three Chinese, one Russian, one Nepalese, five Ukrainians, and one local tour guide.

Meanwhile, regional police chief Barkat Ali said the victims were murdered as they prepared to climb Nanga Parbat, one of the world's highest mountains, in the Gilgit-Baltistan autonomous region.

According to Reuters, unidentified assailants stormed the hotel where foreign tourists were staying and opened fire.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
