Three Nghe An workers were injured in a fire in Taiwan.

(Baonghean.vn) - In the fire at the dormitory for Vietnamese workers of HH Tich Ca Company in Taoyuan City (Taipei, Taiwan), 3 Nghe An workers were injured.

The fire broke out at the dormitory of HH Tich Ca Company (Taiwan), in which 5 people were injured and 6 people died. Among the 5 injured, 3 workers were from Nghe An, they were Phan Le Thanh (29 years old), Nguyen Huu Hai (27 years old), Nguyen Huu Hung (26 years old), all from the same hometown in Hamlet 5, Nam Nghia Commune, Nam Dan District. Hai and Hung are two brothers, and also the brother-in-law of the victim Phung Van Tuan, from Ky Anh (Ha Tinh) who died.

According to the victims’ relatives, when the fire broke out, all the workers were sleeping on the second floor. When the people in the room discovered the fire, it was already high. Mr. Hai and a friend risked their lives and rushed into the fire, escaping through the main door, while three others tried to jump through the window.

After jumping from the second floor, the victims were all injured, suffered scratches, burns, or suffocated. All were taken to Truong Canh Hospital (Taoyuan) for treatment. By the afternoon of December 15, the victims with minor injuries had been discharged, while Nguyen Huu Hai, who was seriously injured and suffocated, was being treated in the intensive care unit.

As reported, at 2:00 a.m. on December 14, a fire broke out in Taoyuan City (Taipei - Taiwan), killing 6 Vietnamese people, including 2 workers from Ha Tinh.

Accordingly, the fire broke out at night in a dormitory for Vietnamese workers at a factory producing insulation products. It took 4 hours after it was discovered for the fire to be extinguished. The fire burned down almost the entire dormitory.

When the fire broke out, 5 Vietnamese workers jumped out of the second floor window to escape, while 6 other Vietnamese workers who were sleeping in the room were burned. At noon of the same day, rescuers were able to remove the victims' bodies from the scene.


The bodies of the six deceased workers have been taken to Taoyuan Funeral Home, awaiting family members to come for DNA testing to determine their identities.

It is known that immediately after the fire broke out, the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taiwan sent officers to the scene to find out information and deploy citizen protection measures.
