Taking place over 5 days (from April 20 to April 24), the book fair has the participation of 87 publishing and book distribution units nationwide, with about 30,000 books. On the opening day, the book fair introduces 9 notable contents such as: Introducing new works, discussions on important topics such as: "Looking back at history, towards the future", "Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands", etc.
The special thing about this book fair is that the units not only focus on selling books but also organize exchange programs and discussions to promote reading culture and spread good values of society. It can be seen that this event has been invested very carefully by the organizing committee from the preparation to the management stage.
Another notable highlight of this book fair is that the forums for exchange and discussion have been expanded in terms of topics, scale and quality. The content of the exchanges are all related to reading and stimulate the desire to learn about practical issues of life, from child-rearing, the path of integration of young people to the issue of protecting the sovereignty and islands of the country.

Many exchange programs have a broad social nature such as the talk show “Overcoming the difficulties of early life with children” with the sharing of Ms. Tran Mai Anh - the adoptive mother of “tin soldier” Thien Nhan. In addition, the book fair also has a number of book signing sessions, reader exchanges with beloved writers such as writer Nguyen Ngoc Thach, writer Trang Ha, Anh Khang, journalist Doan Cong Le Huy, etc.
Responding to this book festival, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Manh Hung said: “Currently, in developed countries such as Israel, France, Japan, on average each person reads 20 books/year; in countries in the region such as Singapore, Malaysia, the numbers are 14 books/year and 10 books/year respectively.
