10-year-old Western girl becomes folk song 'idol'

Little Hien Tran won 300 million VND when she became the champion of the first season of the contest "Future Idol".

The final episode of the program for young contestants singing folk songs and traditional music was broadcast on the evening of July 1. In the first round, Hien Tran performed the songaway from home. While singing, the little girl played the monochord in a scene of a Southern countryside village. The young contestant ended the piece with a high note in the word "au o" and was cheered by the judges and audience.

In the second round, the contestant performed the song "The Flame of the Highlands" in a vibrant style. The judges commented that compared to the first round, Hien Tran was more "passionate" when returning to her forte with a song with the sound of the Central Highlands.

Hien Tran is 10 years old, from Can Tho. In the first episode, the contestant impressed with her falsetto singing ability in the song Co gai vot troc. As the competition progressed, she performed many genres of music such as Hue folk songs, Bac bo, chau van... Hien Tran's duet with contestant Phuong Vy reached 5.2 million views, ranking in the top three videos of the competition.

Little Nghi Dinh came in second, losing half a point to Hien Tran. In the final night, the contestant from Long An performed the traditional song Dat Nuoc Loi Lua and the folk song Mam Kho Que Nha. Cam Ly cried while watching the second performance and commented that she had a way of emphasizing and touching the listeners' emotions. Nghi Dinh won the prize of 100 million VND. Two little Quynh Nhu and Linh Phuong shared third place with 50 million VND.
