Kaitlyn's letter was written in green crayon on a white piece of paper. "Dear Santa Claus. Some of you may not believe in Santa, but I do. One thing I really want for Christmas is for my brother to have a kidney transplant. Please," she wrote.
To emphasize her wishes, Kaitlyn used a different blue crayon to write the words kidney and then underlined them. She also wrote the word “Please” in larger capital letters and drew a squiggly line underneath. At the end of the letter, she drew a heart and signed her name, Kaitlyn, and the letters FL (for Florida).
Shelly Thomas, the store manager, shared the letter on social media in the hope of finding the girl. "Hopefully, this letter will go viral, attract people's attention and I hope they understand how important this letter is," Thomas said.
Shelly Thomas' post received hundreds of shares on Facebook and many comments, sending best wishes to Kaitlyn and her family.
Many people were touched by Kaitlyn's wish. "This letter made me cry. Kids ask for so many things these days and we have a special child whose only wish is a kidney for his brother," one person wrote.
